Host Responsibility & Safety Standards

Last Updated: July 14, 2026

1. AdvaTrav Is a Marketplace — Not an Insurance Provider

AdvaTrav connects hosts and guests around the world. AdvaTrav does not provide insurance coverage for hosts or guests. AdvaTrav is a marketplace and does not assume liability for property damage, injury, or loss that may occur during a booking.

  • Hosts are responsible for maintaining their own property insurance.
  • Guests are responsible for damages caused during their stay.
  • Any insurance references on this page are recommendations only — they are not mandatory and AdvaTrav does not endorse, sell, or administer any insurance product.

2. Host Responsibilities

As a host on AdvaTrav, you are responsible for:

  • Property condition: Keeping your listing clean, safe, and accurately described in photos and amenities.
  • Compliance with local laws: Understanding and complying with local zoning, licensing, tax, and short-term rental regulations in your jurisdiction.
  • Safety standards: Installing working smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and emergency exit signage where applicable.
  • Guest communication: Responding to booking inquiries and messages promptly — ideally within 24 hours.
  • Accurate availability: Keeping your calendar up to date to prevent double-bookings and cancelled reservations.
  • Respect for privacy: Never installing hidden cameras or recording devices in private spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms). Any security cameras in common areas must be clearly disclosed in the listing.

3. Guest Responsibilities

As a guest on AdvaTrav, you are responsible for:

  • Respecting the property: Treating the host's home, vehicle, or experience venue with care. You are liable for damages you or your guests cause during the booking.
  • Following house rules: Adhering to all house rules, check-in/check-out times, and quiet hours posted by the host.
  • Honest information: Providing accurate guest counts, identity verification, and booking details. Misrepresentation may result in booking cancellation.
  • Payment: Completing payment through AdvaTrav's platform only. Never pay hosts directly outside the platform — this removes your protections and violates our Terms.
  • Safety awareness: Reviewing the listing's safety information, emergency exits, and local emergency numbers before your stay.

4. Safety Checklist for Hosts

Before listing your property, ensure you have completed this safety checklist:

  • Smoke detectors installed in every bedroom and on every floor
  • Carbon monoxide detector if the property has fuel-burning appliances or an attached garage
  • Fire extinguisher accessible in the kitchen
  • First-aid kit stocked and within easy reach
  • Emergency contact information posted visibly (local police, fire, medical, and your contact number)
  • Clear escape routes with no obstructions
  • Secure locks on all entry doors and windows
  • Pool safety fencing if the property has a pool or hot tub
  • Electrical safety — no exposed wiring or overloaded outlets

5. Recommended Insurance Types (Non-Mandatory)

AdvaTrav does not require you to have insurance, but we strongly recommend that hosts consult a licensed insurance professional about coverage that may protect their property. Common types include:

  • Homeowner's or landlord insurance: Covers structural damage and liability for the property owner.
  • Short-term rental insurance: Specific policies designed for hosts who rent their property to guests.
  • Liability insurance: Protects against claims of bodily injury or property damage suffered by guests.
  • Contents insurance: Covers theft or damage to furnishings, appliances, and personal belongings.

Important: Standard homeowner's insurance may not cover short-term rental activity. Check with your insurer to confirm your policy covers hosting on a marketplace like AdvaTrav.

6. Damage Policy

If property damage occurs during a booking:

  1. Document the damage: The host should photograph and describe the damage within 14 days of check-out.
  2. Contact the guest first: Hosts should attempt to resolve the issue directly with the guest through AdvaTrav's messaging system.
  3. Submit a claim: If the guest does not respond or refuses to pay, the host may submit a damage claim through AdvaTrav's resolution center within 14 days of check-out.
  4. AdvaTrav review: Our support team will review evidence from both parties and may facilitate a resolution. AdvaTrav does not guarantee compensation and is not a party to any insurance claim.
  5. Legal recourse: If a resolution cannot be reached through AdvaTrav, either party may pursue legal action independently.

7. Dispute Resolution Workflow

AdvaTrav encourages amicable resolution between hosts and guests. If a dispute arises:

  1. Direct communication: Both parties should attempt to resolve the issue through AdvaTrav's in-app messaging.
  2. Mediation request: If direct communication fails, either party can request AdvaTrav mediation. Our team will review messages, photos, and booking details.
  3. Resolution decision: AdvaTrav may issue a non-binding recommendation based on the evidence provided. This is not a legal judgment and does not replace the authority of local courts.
  4. External escalation: If mediation does not resolve the dispute, either party may seek resolution through local legal channels.

8. Verified Host & Verified Listing Standards

AdvaTrav offers voluntary verification programs to help build trust:

  • Verified Host badge: Awarded to hosts who have completed identity verification (KYC Tier 1), phone verification, and email verification.
  • Verified Listing badge: Awarded to listings that have passed photo verification and meet minimum safety checklist requirements.
  • Guest verification: Guests may voluntarily complete identity verification to increase their booking acceptance rate.

Verification badges indicate that a user or listing has passed AdvaTrav's checks. They do not constitute a guarantee of safety, quality, or legality. Guests should always use their own judgment when booking.

9. Fraud Prevention

AdvaTrav employs multiple layers of fraud protection:

  • Identity verification: KYC checks for hosts and merchants, including document authentication and facial matching.
  • Payment screening: Transactions are screened for fraud signals including suspicious card patterns, velocity checks, and chargeback risk.
  • Message safety: Our system monitors messages for phishing attempts, off-platform payment requests, and prohibited content.
  • Account security: Passkeys, biometric login, and SMS verification protect accounts from unauthorized access.
  • Reporting: Users can report suspicious activity, listings, or messages at any time through the app or support channels.

10. Privacy & Data Protection

AdvaTrav is committed to protecting your personal information:

  • No plaintext PII: Sensitive data (passport numbers, ID numbers) is masked in our systems and never displayed in full.
  • Data minimization: We collect only the information necessary to provide our services.
  • GDPR rights: You have the right to access, correct, delete, and restrict processing of your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
  • Secure payments: We do not store full credit card numbers. Payment processing is handled by certified PCI-DSS compliant processors.
  • Role-based access: Only authorized administrators can access sensitive user data, and all access is logged for audit purposes.
